In 1994 a group of Ethiopians who had returned home after studying in Germany came up with the idea of forming an association of fellow countrymen educated in Germany. The group drafted a constitution for the association in the same year.
In 1997 the association registered with the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice and received legal status as ‘Association of Ethiopians Educated in Germany (AEEG)’. An important factor in this success has been the consistent strong support it has received from the German Embassy in Addis Ababa, the Goethe Institute, the German Development Service (DED) and the World University Service (WUS).
Much credit goes also to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for sponsoring and facilitating various meetings for the members enabling AEEG to sensitize its target group to its objectives and increase its membership. This web site is developed through the financial support of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ ) through the coordination of Center for International Migration (CIM) and World University Service (WUS).
